The nagging pain of an achy back
or the immobilizing sensation of a strained back are enough to
paralyze an individual from taking on the most mundane and undemanding
task. These aches, pains and strains can come on at any given
moment.
Back pains can be caused by mental stress, sleeping in an inappropriate
position, lifting an object in an improper form to lack of activity.
Nevertheless, for the individual who has or who has never experienced
the debilitating aches of back pain, there are five preventative
measures to take:
Exercise, exercise exercise. Exercises like yoga, Pilates,
and aerobic exercise serve as excellent preventative steps to
reduce the affliction of back pain. These exercises keep the
muscles supple, strong and functioning in optimal shape.
Boost muscle flexibility and strength. As seen in the principles
of Pilates, when the abdominal and back muscles are exercised
in confluence, it is tantamount to putting an invisible corset
on. Additionally, when flexibility in the hips and upper legs
is enabled, a natural alignment occurs in the pelvic bone region.
The end result enhances the sensations in the back. The execution
of a few exercise maneuvers on a regular basis may help augment
and align the back.
Mind your posture. Standing and sitting an erect position may
prevent the perils of back discomfort.
Kick the smoking habit. Cigarette smoking exceeds placing individuals
at risk of heart disease and cancer. Cigarette smokers have
diminished supplies of oxygen in their spinal tissues. Consequently,
the healing process is hindered. So, kicking a nicotine habit
offers a myriad of health advantages.
Shed some pounds. Excessive weight imposes aches, pains and
strains on the back. Losing a little weight may prove to diminish
back pain or prevent it altogether.
